Itinerary

Day 1: Mexico City - Grutas de Tolantongo

On Day 1, meet your guide on the starting point and head directly to Grutas de Tolantongo, located in Hidalgo, a state famous for its beautiful natural attractions. On the way, enjoy various landscapes and opt to try barbacoa, the traditional dish from the region.

Once there, relax in the hot waters (35º-38º C) in the pools built into a cliff of a picturesque 500-meter-high canyon. Another attraction is two grottos, out of which flows a volcanically-heated river that follows the canyon floor. The large grotto chamber is about half the size of a tennis court with a ceiling of up to 10 m. Above the grotto is a “tunnel”, a small cavern 15 m deep in which warm water showers those who venture inside.

Spend the rest of the day getting relaxed in the pools or the river, or enjoying optional activities such as ziplining or hiking till dusk.

Day 2: Grutas de Tolantongo - Mexico City

On Day 2, have an optional breakfast and take your time to enjoy more of Tolantongo. In the afternoon, return to our vehicle and relax on the way back to Mexico City
