Itinerary

In the afternoon, meet your guide at the starting point in the Historic Center of Mexico City and head to its Zocalo to walk around its lively streets and blithe atmosphere. Once there, get immersed in the Day of the Dead (or Día de Muertos), a very cheerful Mexican tradition celebrated on November 1st and 2nd that has its roots back to pre-Hispanic times also mixed with Catholic influences.

Visit some of the attractions in the surroundings such as Templo Mayor, the Metropolitan Catedral, the House of Tiles, and much more! Also, learn from your guide about this amazing tradition and get acquainted with its origins and cultural relevance in Mexican folklore.

Stop on the way to see beautiful “ofrendas“, that is offerings that are set by Mexican families to remember their ancestors once they passed away. Accompanied by tons of cempasuchil flowers, see many of them out in the streets while getting delighted with their most beautiful designs, vibrant colors, and aromatic scents.

Also, have fun and feel the joyful vibes from the local people, who celebrate this festivity by getting disguised as supernatural characters emerged from the netherworld.  Witness the most charming skull-inspired costumes that are famous among the locals, such as Catrinas as well as calaveras depicting other Mexican characters.

As a very important celebration, food is another highlight that you shouldn’t miss, so try tasty authentic pan de muerto and discover other exquisite dishes that are famous during that season.
