Itinerary

Get ready for our Teotihuacan Food experience! A day full of flavors and history just outside Mexico City. We’ll start with a pickup from and transfer to the town of Teotihuacán, where a unique and local restaurant awaits. This is the perfect place to dive into the rich culinary traditions of the region, using fresh local ingredients and pre-Hispanic techniques that have been passed down for generations.

At the restaurant, join a hands-on cooking experience where you’ll watch and assist as traditional dishes are prepared from scratch. From savory to sweet, you’ll see the flavors, colors, and aromas of ancient recipes come to life. Once the cooking is complete, enjoy a full lunch featuring the dishes you helped create, a feast that’s as rich in taste as it is in history. Your guide will stay nearby to support you and answer any questions, ensuring a smooth and immersive experience.

After lunch, we’ll head to the nearby Teotihuacán Archaeological Zone, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walk along the ancient avenues, marvel at the Sun and Moon Pyramids, and learn the fascinating stories of a civilization that once thrived here. Your guide will show you the main attractions and help bring the history to life, making the ruins feel alive with the echoes of the past.

Logistics

DEPARTURE LOCATION AND TIME
The default departure times for this tour are 07:30, 09:30, 11:30 AM, and 01:00 PM, but we can also adjust them per your request. Our guide will meet/pick you up at the requested time and might need to contact you by phone. Therefore, please kindly provide a valid phone number during your booking.
Complimentary pick-up/drop-off is included: please indicate the exact time and location for your pick-up during your booking (e.g. in the "Special Requirements" field). That is to say, we can pick you up from those parts of Mexico City: Polanco, Condesa, Roma, and Centro Historico. Other more remote locations might involve an extra fee.

TOUR DURATION AND CUSTOMIZATION
The standard duration of the tour counts from the moment of a meetup till the end of the tour. On the other hand, the tour is customizable which means we can adjust the time you spend in each destination. For example, if you want to visit an extra location (attraction/restaurant/market, etc.), you can do it on a complimentary basis if this visit (1) fits the default duration of the tour and  (2) doesn't involve a major change of the route.

WHAT TO TAKE WITH YOU

Comfortable clothes and shoes, hat/cap, sunscreen and sunglasses; extra clothes for temazcal: bathing suit or shorts and a T-shirt/top to sweat, sandals, towel; travel insurance, photo ID, some cash; good mood and curiosity.

Notes

  • The type of vehicle depends on the size of your group and may include car, 7-seater, or minivan.
  • With the exception of the walking tour in the archaeological zone, which is completely private, this experience is less expensive on Saturday at 11:30 AM because the temazcal ceremony is a communal event.
  • Travelers should have a basic physical fitness condition.
  • Not recommended for children under 10 years old, people with heart problems, high or low blood pressure, recent surgeries, or high-risk pregnancies.
  • Remember to pack additional clothing because you will get soaked after the heat bath and need them to fully participate in the temazcal ceremony.
