    • Itinerary

    In the morning, meet your guide at your accommodation and then head to the pre-Columbian city of Xochicalco that in Nahuatl means “Place of flowers”. Developed between 650 and 900 AD, it is currently on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is the 4th most visited archaeological zone in the country. Once there, discover its Temple of the Feathered Snake, Acropolis, Grand Pyramid, Observatory, and other prominent constructions. 


    After Xochicalco, make a stop at Taxco de Alarcon. Situated in the mountains, this beautiful colonial town is rich with old and new silver mines and has narrow picturesque streets and architecture that have not changed in the last couple of centuries. The town is also renowned for its UNESCO-nominated 200-year-old Baroque-style church, the Santa Prisca Cathedral. 

    After a full day of discoveries, return to our vehicle and relax on the way back to Mexico City.

    DEPARTURE TIME AND LOCATION: Default departure times (which you can see when choosing a tour date) can be adjusted upon your request. Our guide will meet you at the requested time and location and might need to contact you by phone. Therefore, please kindly provide a valid phone number during your booking.


    TRANSPORT: Complimentary pick-up/drop-off is included: please indicate the exact time and location for your pick-up during your booking (e.g. in the "Special Requirements" field). That is to say, we can pick you up from those parts of Mexico City: Polanco, Condesa, Roma, or Centro Historico. Other more remote locations might involve an extra fee.


    TOUR DURATION AND CUSTOMIZATION: The standard duration of the tour counts from the moment of a meetup till the end of the tour. On the other hand, the tour is customizable which means we can adjust the time you spend at each destination. For example, if you want to visit an extra location (attraction/restaurant/market, etc.), you can do it on a complimentary basis if this visit (1) fits the default duration of the tour and  (2) doesn't involve a major change of the route.


    WHAT TO TAKE WITH YOU: Comfortable clothes and shoes; hat/cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen; personal travel insurance; good mood and curiosity. 

    LANGUAGES: All our tours are led by local bilingual (at least Spanish and English) guides. Some of them fluently speak other languages (e.g. French, German, Italian, Mandarin, etc.), but those might depend on availability and cannot be fully guaranteed. If you want to have your tour in a language other than Spanish or English, please kindly inquire in advance.

    • With our Taxco Tour, prepare to explore the colonial beauty of Cuernavaca and Taxco, two of Mexico’s most charming cities. Your day begins with a visit to Cuernavaca’s Cathedral, a 16th-century monastery that houses a mural depicting Mexico’s first saint, Saint Pope Juan Diego. The cathedral’s serene architecture and historical significance make it a perfect start to our journey, diving into the city’s rich colonial heritage.

    • Next, we’ll head to the Palacio de Cortés, a historic civil palace built by Hernán Cortés in the early 1500s. This landmark has stood as a symbol of the city’s colonial past. Today, it serves as the Cuauhnahuac Regional Museum, showcasing incredible murals by Diego Rivera depicting the region’s history. As you explore the palace, you’ll gain insight into the rich cultural heritage of Cuernavaca and its evolution through the centuries.

    • From there, we’ll take a leisurely stroll through the Borda Gardens, once the summer residence of wealthy miner José de la Borda. These lush gardens were later used as a summer retreat by Emperor Maximiliano of Habsburg and his wife, Empress Charlotte of Belgium. Walking through the well-maintained gardens, you’ll discover a serene oasis filled with native plants, fountains, and charming pathways—a perfect escape into history.

    • In the afternoon, we’ll visit Taxco, renowned for its stunning colonial architecture and world-famous silver jewelry. The Church of Santa Prisca, located in the heart of Plaza Borda, is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. Take some time to explore Taxco’s winding streets and alleys, where you’ll find several silver shops, boutiques, and restaurants.

    • Finally, no visit to Taxco would be complete without exploring its pre-Hispanic mine, the only one in Mexico open to the public. The native peoples of Taxco exploited this ancient mine in the 1400s before it was closed to prevent the Spanish from taking control of its valuable resources. You’ll uncover the stories, legends, and myths surrounding this historical site as you tour the mine.
